#6 Wait For It….

As you have probably noticed it has been some time since I have last posted or sent you a newsletter.

There is good reason…as a coach working with women, at every moment I am asking myself the same questions I pose to you.

When it came to this 6th significant step to success I realized I needed to take my own advice.

And wait….

Building a business and all the other tasks involved in living my life I found myself “busy” so busy that I was no longer in control of the direction of my life I was just moving. I was reacting to the day to day and aimlessly became at the mercy of what life was throwing my way. I was no longer in the driver’s seat…So I decided I needed to:

  • Wait
  • Slow down
  • Stop
  • Look the other way
  • Reflect
  • Breathe
  • Dream
  • Vision
  • Plan

Why? Because I had lost control over my own destiny.

I needed to be sure that the steps I was taking were directed down the road I wanted to go. And to do that I have to plan my life, the next steps and not be dragged around by the things that life was throwing my way.

Today being busy is code for I am important, successful and valid and admitting not to being busy is admitting hopelessness and loserdom.

Especially as women we wear it as a badge of honor.

Obviously your life can not be silly, trivial, or meaningless if you are so busy, completely booked in demand every hour of the day. Not being busy might be more stressful that being busy.

“To do nothing at all is the most difficult thing of all.” Oscar Wilde

There are a lot of “busy” and “overwhelmed” people in the world today. When you say or hear other people say: “I’ve been busy.”

What does that really mean?

It is coping out or working on stuff that really doesn’t matter.

Does it mean that you don’t feel like disclosing the information or you don’t care to elaborate on it?

If you are looking to build relationships in business or life then get out from behind the mask and tell them what you have been up to. You might be surprised to find out that they might be able to help you with whatever you have been looking for or at least lend a supportive ear.

Because all this busy work is draining.

This it is not to say, that there is anything wrong with being highly productive. However, I am talking about the kind of busy-ness that has people red eyed and stressed to the gills. Our bodies will follow the thoughts of our minds. Our physical nature believes us, when we declare how busy and overwhelmed we are. Our cells take it on. We are just built that way.

So, why not remind yourself that Calm is a Choice. Slowing down is a choice. That no matter how much activity you have in your life that you can still choose to be calm. Even enjoy the calm.

So take a step back from your life…get a better view on things.

Don’t try to make things happen or force things to happen get prepared and wait.

I guarantee that then the correct door will be opened for you…how do I know this…because when I slow down I see things I don’t when I am ferociously running from thing to thing…serendipity happens…and that is beautiful…because it is even better than what I was trying to accomplish.

Give it a try…take a break…shut everything down for a day, a week or even an hour…step back…get yourself a front row seat to your life…see if it is a life you dream of or one that is not.
